C/2022 E3 (ZTF)
Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was discovered on March 2, 2022 using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) at the Palomar Observatory in California. On February 1, 2023, it reached its closest distance to Earth with an apparent brightness of just 4.5 mag.
During the approach to the Earth, the dust tail always pointed away from the Earth, but the ion tail (always pointing away from the Sun) was very faintly visible in the telescope when the sky was dark.

C/2022 E3 (ZTF) - Distance: 49 million km, on the right in the picture you can see comet C/2022 U2 (ATLAS), 205 million km away.

Image as above but stacked on C/2022 U2 (ATLAS). You can clearly see the different movements during the approximately one-hour exposure. (82 x 30s + storage times of the individual frames)
