The countertail at the tip of the comet's head is interesting. This is a projection phenomenon and can only be seen for a short time. The countertail is actually the end of the dust tail. Here Uwe Pilz explains the physics behind the countertail phenomenon in an easy-to-understand manner.

The comet flies approximately halfway between the SOHO probe (relatively close to Earth) and the sun.
Still visible: The bright point of light on the left is the planet Mercury.
