The observatory :
At a rainy evening of October 2004 a friend and me were sitting for a beer and we talked about this and that, as I addressed the issue of building an observatory. Quickly it was drawn a design, and found a place in the backyard to. A size of 4 by 4 meter probably should be enough. Preferably I had start promptly at the very next day with a spade to excavate the foundations. Unfortunately it is not so easy in Germany because the hard bureaucratic hurdles have to be taken yet.
The construction of an observatory of this size in Germany without a building permit is not possible. Fortunately, after a long search I located an engineering office that my ideas and drawings transformed into an authority-friendly "package". Mr Schneeweiss was promptly excited about the project and offered his assistance. It has been calculated in the static, the usual formalities (sounds simple, but it is not!) and new plans in the desired format.
On January 20, 2006 it was finally arrived. The building permit was there! Now we only had to wait for the right weather, but this was not a problem, because I sawed in the meantime the ribs of the dome.
On April 1, 2006 the first spadeful of earth was turned and it was done about 1 year later.
